The National Executive Council (NEC) of the Judicial Service Staff Association of Ghana (JUSAG) has instructed all Judicial Service staff to resume work starting tomorrow, Tuesday, July 16th.

This directive comes after Organised Labour announced the suspension of the strike, as declared by Dr. Yaw Baah, Secretary General of the Trades Union Congress (TUC), during a press conference held in Accra on Monday, July 15th, which was covered by TV3’s Daniel Opoku.

Organised Labour had initiated an indefinite strike in response to Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT)’s plan to sell 60 percent of its shares in its hotels.

“On Friday the 12th of July 2024 organized labour called on all workers to join an indefinite strike starting today Monday 15th of July 2024 to back our demand for the termination of the process towards the stake of 60 of SSNIT shares on the four hotels.

In a letter dated 12th of July 2024, SSNIT informed organized labor that it had terminated the sale of 60 of its stake in the holders.

“At an emergency meeting held today July 15, 2024, organised labour has decided to call off the strike,” Dr Yaw Baah stated.

JUSAG stated, “Following the fulfillment of our demands by the SSNIT Board, Organised Labour has opted to end the current strike.

All workers are instructed to return to work tomorrow, Tuesday, July 16, 2024. Consequently, the National Executive Council (NEC) of JUSAG directs all Judicial Service staff to resume work tomorrow.”

“Leadership of Organised Labour will engage the Board of SSNIT to resolve any other outstanding issues regarding the management of the Trust.

We wish to express our gratitude to the staff of the Judicial Service and the workers of Ghana for supporting our collective resolve to safeguard our retirement incomes.”
