Arsenal were held to a draw at home by Brighton & Hove Albion in Saturday’s early kickoff at the Emirates Stadium, despite a strong start to the 2024-25 season and playing with ten men.

Kai Havertz, in conjunction with Bukayo Saka, put Arsenal ahead seven minutes before halftime.

However, a red card for Declan Rice, who received a second yellow card for kicking the ball away after a Brighton foul, disrupted Arsenal’s momentum.

Brighton took advantage of their numerical superiority and equalized two minutes before the hour mark through Joao Pedro.

Pedro scored on a rebound after Arsenal’s goalkeeper, David Raya, initially saved Brighton’s attempt.

Pedro’s goal was the first Mikel Arteta’s side have conceded since the end of the 2023-24 season.

The match ended with both teams sharing the points, maintaining their unbeaten starts to the season.

Arsenal will face North London rivals Tottenham Hotspur after the international break, while Brighton will host Ipswich at the Amex Stadium.
