Two people have been found dead at the Tono riverbank in the Kasena-Nankana Municipality of the Upper East Region.

According to reports, the two were riding on a motorbike from Navrongo towards Chaina on Thursday night [February 20], when they accidentally lost control and veered into the dam.

Their bodies were seen by farmers on Friday morning when irrigation farmers in the area attended to their farms to irrigate their crops.

Police in the area were called in to pick the bodies to the Navrongo hospital.

The deceased persons are said to be residents of Chaina, in the Chaina-Paga District who visited Navrongo and were returning home.

Due to the deteriorating nature of the riverbank, barricades were constructed around the river sometime back to prevent riders from riding through, however, riders defy this fence to meander their way out, causing unnecessary accidents.
