Two suspected kidnappers have been arrested in Gonse, located in the Weija-Gbawe Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

According to Onua News’ Akua Sarpomaa, the victim, Adenare, managed to escape from the kidnappers by jumping over a wall into a nearby house for assistance.

Witnesses reported that the victim could only speak French, so they contacted Unit Committee Chairman Prince Achiglo, who arranged for a French-speaking translator.

The victim revealed that he had been kidnapped for the past eight months.

He was therefore taken to the Anyaa District Command.

In an interview with the landlady of the house where the kidnappers kept the victim, Rose Odei, she said “I gave my apartment to four people not knowing they were more than that”.

“Sometimes when I come back from work through the gate, I see many people roaming on the compound, but when I open, I don’t see them. I see only the four tenants”.

“One day I asked them and they said they were only four, so I didn’t say anything again”.

Shaibu, a relative of the victim, informed Akua Sarpomaa that he received a distress call from Benin. Adenare, the victim, reportedly contacted him to say that he was at the Anyaa Police Station and needed someone to come and bail him out.

“When he came, it wasn’t like that, they were moving them from one place to another. They even called the parents in Benin to send them money else they won’t release the boy. So, land they are supposed to sell for ten million CFA Francs, they sold it for three hundred CFA Francs because the pressure they mounted to the family was unbearable,” the brother of the Victim added.
