2021 Independence Day celebrations to hold at Jubilee House

The 64th Independence Celebration of Ghana will be held in the front yard of the government seat [Jubilee House].

In an unconventional celebration setting, this year’s celebrations will hold in at selected regional capital without parades, due to the COVID-19 restrictions

In spirit of the preparations, gunshots were heard from the seat of the government earlier today as part of the rehearsal of the Ghanaian Armed Forces to pay tribute to the 21 Artillery, which is the norm.

In an annual celebratory routine in to commemoration of the independent rule, schools across the country are wooed to participate in the celebration.

BACKGROUND

The Ghana Education Service (GES) had directed all schools in Ghana to halt the celebration of this year’s 6th March parade across the country.

The directive followed a press release from the GES on Monday, February 15, 2021, stating the decision to suspend all 6th March activities as a result of “the high prevalence rate of Covid-19 cases in the country”.

Last year’s celebrations were held in the Ashanti Region capital town of Kumasi for the first time in the history of the country.
