The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has announced the provisional results for school candidates who participated in the 2024 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE).
According to a statement issued on Monday, December 30, 2024, the results of 4,108 candidates had their subject results cancelled, while 781 candidates had their results withheld.

Additionally, 483 candidates had their entire results nullified for using mobile phones in the examination hall, while 209 others had their results withheld for various suspected malpractices.
Candidates can now access their results on WAEC’s official website.
A performance review indicated a decline in three core subjects—English Language, Integrated Science, and Social Studies—compared to last year. However, Core Mathematics maintained its performance levels.
The subject results of candidates from 319 schools have been withheld over allegations of collusion.
“These cases are still under investigation. The withheld results of these candidates may be released or cancelled depending on the outcome of the investigations”, the statement added.
The alleged malpractices include bringing foreign material such as prepared notes, printed material and mobile phones to the examination hall, collusion among candidates, and planned cheating which occurred with the connivance of some supervisors and school authorities.
