The Super Eagles of Nigeria have been placed in Group D for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers, alongside Benin Republic, Rwanda, and Libya.

The draw, held in South Africa on Thursday, divided 48 countries into 12 groups of four teams each, with the top two teams from each group (except one) qualifying directly for the finals in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.

The qualifying matches will take place during the FIFA windows in September, October, and November this year.

Nigeria will face stiff competition in Group D, while other groups feature powerhouses like Morocco, Egypt, and Algeria.

The full draw is as follows:

  • Group A: Tunisia, Madagascar, Comoros, Gambia
  • Group B: Morocco, Gabon, Central African Republic, Lesotho
  • Group C: Egypt, Cape Verde, Mauritania, Botswana
  • Group D: Nigeria, Benin, Libya, Rwanda
  • Group E: Algeria, Equatorial Guinea, Togo, Liberia
  • Group F: Ghana, Angola, Sudan, Niger
  • Group G: Ivory Coast, Zambia, Sierra Leone, Chad
  • Group H: Democratic Republic of Congo, Guinea, Tanzania, Ethiopia
  • Group I: Mali, Mozambique, Guinea-Bissau, Eswatini
  • Group J: Cameroon, Namibia, Kenya, Zimbabwe
  • Group K: South Africa, Uganda, Congo Brazzaville, South Sudan
  • Group L: Senegal, Burkina Faso, Malawi, Burundi

The winners and runners-up from each group will qualify for the finals, except in Group B, where only the best-placed team will qualify, as Morocco has automatically qualified as the host nation.

Liberia, Eswatini, South Sudan, and Chad secured victories in preliminary ties, while the other 44 qualifiers received byes.
