The Ghana Police Service has announced the arrest of 89 individuals in connection with various offenses committed during the 2024 general elections.
In an update on Monday, the Police stated that 40 of the suspects are directly involved in acts of vandalism, looting, and property destruction.

All suspects will face legal action and be brought before the courts.
These arrests are part of the Police’s ongoing security measures to ensure peace, security, and law and order after the elections.
While incidents of looting, vandalism, and property damage have been limited, authorities remain alert.
The Police have issued a strong warning, urging the public to avoid violent actions, as anyone found guilty will be arrested and prosecuted in accordance with the law.
Some of the key security measures currently in place include:
- Increased visibility through patrols conducted with other security agencies.
- Intelligence-led operations within communities to identify and apprehend offenders.
- Static security at targeted state facilities.
- Engagement with government officials and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations.
- A special investigation team reviewing videos and other evidence to identify perpetrators and hold them accountable.
The Police also expressed their gratitude to Ghanaians for their support throughout the election process, encouraging all stakeholders to remain calm.
