The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has cautioned the newly appointed Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Arthur Osei Akoto, to refrain from getting involved in chieftaincy and land-related disputes in the region.

According to the Asantehene, such matters are beyond the mandate of the Police Service and fall under his authority as the traditional leader of Asanteman.

He advised that any chief who approaches the Police Commander with land issues should be directed to seek his (the Asantehene’s) intervention.

Otumfuo Osei Tutu II further directed that if the commander becomes aware of any ongoing land dispute, he should immediately bring it to his attention for appropriate action.

The Asantehene also urged DCOP Akoto to intensify efforts to combat theft and other social vices to maintain peace and security in the Ashanti Region.

He gave the advice when the new Police Commander paid a courtesy call on him at the Manhyia Palace on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.

The outgoing Police Commander, Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe expressed gratitude to His Majesty for shaping his duty with blessings and directions, before introducing Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Arthur Osei Akoto as his successor.

Among the delegation of the outgoing regional commander were CP/Mr. Francis Kouame Somian, Deputy Regional Commander; Chief Supt Frederick Hammond, the Manhyia Divisional Commander; and DSP Godwin Ahianyo, Ashanti Regional PRO.
