Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, the Member of Parliament for North Tongu, has joined the chorus demanding the dissolution of the board of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT).
This call comes in the wake of the termination of a deal involving the sale of 60 percent of SSNIT’s shares in four hotels to Rock City Hotel, owned by Agriculture Minister Bryan Acheampong.

Ablakwa, who initially exposed the sale alongside support from Organized Labour and other unions, played a pivotal role in halting the transaction.
He expressed strong criticism, stating that the SSNIT board should not continue in office after overseeing such a controversial deal.
According to Ablakwa, it was evident from the outset that the transaction was not in Ghana’s best interests.
Despite clear signs and procedural concerns, the SSNIT board proceeded with the deal against better judgment and due process.
“Those who have perpetrated this state capture must pay a price. The SSNIT board has to be dissolved. The SSNIT board cannot tell us that they didn’t receive copies of the transaction adviser’s report. The transaction adviser told them that this was a bad deal.
“There is no bank guarantee. There is no value for money. There is no proof of funds. And yet, they went ahead, they were holding press conferences, writing epistles, defying Organised Labour, defying me, defending this stinky transaction and so they must pay a price.”
