Abu Kansangbata, a former deputy minister under John Mahama’s administration, has dismissed comments made by private legal practitioner Maurice Ampaw regarding Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang’s selection as NDC’s 2024 running mate.

Speaking on Home Radio’s Morning Show, Kansangbata urged Ghanaians to disregard Ampaw’s assertions, labeling him a “comedian” who should not be taken seriously in the political sphere.

Kansangbata criticized Ampaw’s comments as petty and mediocre, questioning his political experience and knowledge.

He pointed out that Prof Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, despite being over 65 years old, has earned a reputation and standing in Ghana’s political space, which Ampaw is trying to tarnish out of desperation.

Kansangbata accused Ampaw of aligning himself with individuals determined to run Prof Naana down.

The former Upper West deputy regional minister called on NDC members and sympathizers to capitalize on Prof Naana’s reputation and momentum, organizing house-to-house campaigns to advance her cause and explain the country’s excruciating hardship to Ghanaians.

He emphasized that Prof Naana is a phenomenon and a new definition of women in politics in Ghana, and her speech connotes comprehensive issues affecting daily life.

Kansangbata appealed to NDC members to avoid NPP’s negative political strategies aimed at swaying attention away from Prof Naana’s beauty and message, especially after her maiden speech during her inauguration.

He stressed that Maurice Ampaw’s comments lack political experience and are unnecessary, as the former First Lady, Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, has not been an NDC member for many years.
