The Accra high court has dismissed a case before it against twenty-one people who were arrested on May, 2021, while attending a meeting of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) activists.
The prosecutor said they have been advised on the allegations raised against the activists, which was not enough evidence to prove the sixteen women and five men gathered illegally.
The lawyer of the accused persons has welcomed the decision.
Meanwhile, gay sex is a criminal offence in Ghana and punishable by law, with up to three years in prison. Campaigners said the activists have been wrongfully arrested.
