Jurors at the Accra High Court are considering petitioning the Office of the Attorney General (AG) over the government’s failure to pay their allowances, a situation that has triggered an ongoing strike for nearly a month.

The jurors, who have not received their allowances for the past eight months, say they’re yet to receive any formal communication from the Judicial Service regarding the delay.

Spokesperson for the group, Joshua Alorgbey, said they are still waiting for an official response but may be forced to escalate the matter to the Attorney General.

“We have still not heard from the Judicial Service. We are still waiting to hear from them, so we advise ourselves. We wanted to approach the Attorney General, he might be aware, though, but we wanted to visit his outfit and, if possible, take it further.

“That is what we are considering now. We have not made any decision on that for now. We are waiting a little to see,” he said.
