Accra, the nation’s capital, experienced widespread destruction on Monday, May 6, 2024, following a heavy downpour in the morning.
The Airport area was among the hardest hit, with multiple vehicles damaged by fallen trees. A video shared by Accra-based TV3 showed the extent of the damage, with at least two vehicles severely impacted near the Landing Restaurant at Airport.

A Toyota Corolla was trapped under massive tree trunks, its bonnet and roof completely destroyed.
A Toyota Vitz also suffered extensive damage, with a tree resting on its backside. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in this incident.
However, GhanaWeb reported a similar incident nearby, which left one person in critical condition near the Togo Embassy area.
According to TV3, a tree fell on a four-wheel drive and a motorcycle on the road close to the embassy, resulting in one person being hospitalized in critical condition. The incident occurred after heavy rains in the early hours of May 6.
