Renowned activist and private legal practitioner Oliver Barker-Vormawor has slammed the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) for its inefficiency in protecting the public purse.

He alleges that instead of holding criminals accountable, EOCO is engaged in extortion, burying issues that need investigation and prosecution.

Barker-Vormawor claims that some EOCO officers have confessed to him about their involvement in extortion schemes, aimed at enriching themselves.

He lamented that this issue undermines the nation’s democracy, stating, “There are more crimes committed by EOCO officers than they prevent.”

He revealed that many clients have been extorted and matters killed, with “Sakawa boys” being easy targets for law enforcement.

Barker-Vormawor expressed disbelief at EOCO’s inability to investigate crimes effectively, citing a recent tweet by Maame Tiwaa about lifestyle audits for celebrities, which he found laughable.

EOCO has faced criticism for its failure to appropriately investigate crime matters and deal with culprits.

Barker-Vormawor’s comments highlight the need for accountability and reform within the institution to ensure justice is served.
