The Ada West District Assembly has instituted a ban on the distribution of food and drinks at social events to help prevent the spread of cholera in the region.

This decision follows the admission of over 200 individuals to various health facilities in the district due to a cholera outbreak.

District Chief Executive Sampson Tetteh stated that social gatherings have been identified as the main source of cholera transmission, leading the assembly to implement this ban as a precautionary measure.

“We have also decided that the funerals within our districts should go by the one-meter distance system where you don’t come close to each other. Also at funerals, they are not supposed to share food and drinks.

“We’re also using hand sanitisers, and Veronica’s buckets at all churches and funerals.” the District Chief Executive for Ada West said.
