The Adentan Traditional Council has imposed restrictions on local businesses in the area to honor the late Adenta Mantse, Nii Sowah Okataban II, whose funeral is currently taking place.

The restrictions, however, do not apply to pharmacies, food outlets, or drinking spots.

In an interview with Citi News, Rev. Okpoti-Kodiatse Sowah, a member of the funeral planning committee, detailed the specific localities affected by these measures.

“The ban is regarding the burial of the late chief of Adenta, we believe that he is the king of the land and to show honour, and respect and even to support the family to do the burial, we announced that everybody should close the shop for this Saturday and join the family for the burial, the ban starts from ridge junction passing through to Botchway third gate from there to the lakeside to rotary junction to Pantan junction a place called shalom to the part of kenkey hub”.

“These are the places affected by the ban. Aside from Pharmacies, food vendors and fuel stations, all other shops within that vicinity must be closed. A notice was put across a week before the funeral commenced”.

Citi News’ drive through some major parts of Adentan shows most shops are closed in compliance with the directive. Rev. Okpoti-Kodiatse Sowah hinted that a task force has been deployed to ensure strict compliance.

Whereas most shops at Adentan village were seen closed, Citi News observed that many shops along the Ritz Junction-Ashale Botwe stretch are open.
