Lawyer for former Director of the National Signals Bureau, Kwabena Adu-Boahene, has indicated that testimony from the prosecution is rather working in favour of his client.

Samuel Atta Akyea said the defence has not yet begun presenting its case, yet evidence from the prosecution’s second witness appears to support Mr Adu-Boahene’s position.

According to him, the witness, who was called to testify against the former NSB Director, offered explanations that he described as highly exculpatory. He noted that the testimony went as far as touching on issues of national security in a manner that aligns with his client’s conduct and reputation while in office.

Mr Akyea stressed that the defence has not made any submissions so far, but developments in court suggest that the prosecution’s own witness is providing clarity that reflects positively on his client.

“So far we’ve not mounted our defence but on the contrary it is the prosecution witness number 2 who is trying to explain matters, very exculpatory of our client. So this is what is going on.

“We have not said one thing but guess what is happening the one that was commandeer to come and testify against our client is trying to explain even some issues of national security which are very consistent with our client’s [image],” Adu-Boahene stated.
