Ghana’s hopes were shattered when Mozambique equalized in added time, resulting in a 2-2 draw in a decisive match.
The initial breakthrough for Ghana came in the 15th minute from a penalty scored by J. Ayew, marking the only goal of the first half.
In the 70th minute, Ghana was granted another penalty, successfully converted into a brace by J. Ayew. Mozambique’s comeback began in the 90+1 minute with G. Catano scoring from the penalty spot.
Unfortunately, Ghana couldn’t hold on until the dying minutes, succumbing to R. Mandava’s goal in the 90+4 minute.
Meanwhile, Egypt also secured a draw against Cape Verde but managed to qualify for the next round.
