In a parliamentary address on June 11, Majority Leader Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin highlighted the Akufo-Addo administration’s remarkable achievement in reducing electricity tariffs, a feat unmatched by any other government in Ghana’s 4th republic.

This move demonstrates the government’s dedication to easing the struggles of the Ghanaian people.

Afenyo-Markin emphasized that the government acknowledges the various challenges faced by the citizens, and its commitment to addressing them is evident in the historic tariff reductions of 18 to 30 percent in 2018.

This achievement is a testament to the government’s resolve to alleviate the burden on the people.

Furthermore, Afenyo-Markin announced that a bill will be presented to parliament soon to regulate the Free Senior High School (SHS) policy, ensuring its sustainability and safeguarding it from potential changes by future administrations.

This legislation aims to cement the policy’s framework, protecting its objectives and ensuring free secondary education for all Ghanaian students remains a cornerstone of the government’s educational reforms.
