Majority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has apologized to Channel One TV’s Jude Duncan after a tense exchange during an interview on Monday, November 11.

The confrontation occurred during a discussion of a recent Supreme Court ruling, which had sparked debate over the leadership dynamics in Parliament.
Duncan mistakenly referred to Afenyo-Markin as the “leader of the NPP’s caucus in Parliament” instead of his official title, Majority Leader.
Afenyo-Markin found this misrepresentation significant, particularly in the context of the ongoing political tensions surrounding Speaker Alban Bagbin’s controversial declaration of four parliamentary seats as vacant.
Afenyo-Markin clarified that, despite the controversy, his position as Majority Leader remained intact, stressing the importance of using the correct titles to avoid public confusion.
On Tuesday, Afenyo-Markin reached out to Duncan, urging them to move beyond the disagreement and focus on mutual understanding.
“We take this opportunity to let go of what happened yesterday,” he said, emphasizing the need for reconciliation.
The Supreme Court’s ruling on Tuesday supported Afenyo-Markin’s legal challenge, restoring the affected MPs and ensuring the majority’s strength in Parliament.
This decision reaffirmed Afenyo-Markin’s role as Majority Leader, overseeing the NPP’s parliamentary caucus.
