The Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has called on the youth to avoid violence in the lead-up to the upcoming elections.

Speaking at the annual Teachers’ Awards ceremony in his constituency, the Majority Leader in Parliament urged political party supporters to focus on issue-based campaigns that highlight their parties’ achievements, rather than engaging in confrontations or unrest.
Afenyo-Markin stressed that any individual caught engaging in violence would face the full force of the law, warning that no politician would intervene to secure the release of offenders.
He emphasized the importance of peaceful and lawful conduct during the election period to ensure a smooth and democratic process.
“A reminder to those of you who are foot soldiers, who are busy with the politics in our communities. We the political class in parliament are friends to each other and one another. We do not fight. We engage each other.
“So if you are here and you are going to pull a knife because somebody disagrees with you, I am sorry when things go bad, you may not find that politician who is a beneficiary of your conduct following you.
“The political party may even disown you, so let’s be careful.”
