Afua Asantewaa O. Aduonum has achieved an extraordinary milestone by singing continuously for 121 hours and 39 minutes in her second attempt to break the Guinness World Record (GWR) for the longest singing marathon by an individual.
Held at the Heroes’ Park of Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi, the event showcased the vibrancy of Ghanaian music, attracting fans and supporters.

Beginning on December 21, 2024, and concluding on Christmas Day, the five-day marathon saw the 34-year-old media personality and singer perform over 200 songs spanning genres such as gospel, highlife, afrobeat, and hiplife.
Reflecting on her achievement, Afua shared her fulfillment in promoting Ghanaian music through her effort:
“I am fulfilled considering the fact that I succeeded in promoting Ghanaian songs.”
Afua also credited her success to her dedicated team, which included her manager Gladys Osei Owiredu, her husband and PR Head Kofi Owusu Aduonum, and other key team members such as Fredrick Fosu, Kelvin Abban, and Isaac Amponsah.
This was Afua’s second attempt at the record. In 2023, she surpassed the existing record of 105 hours set by India’s Sunil Waghmare with a 126-hour performance, but technicalities prevented her effort from being recognized. Undeterred, she returned with greater preparation and determination, inspiring many with her resilience and passion.
Guinness World Records is expected to review her submission to confirm whether she officially secures the title. If successful, Afua Asantewaa will join the ranks of global record holders, shining a spotlight on Ghanaian talent and culture.
Following the completion of her marathon, Afua Asantewaa and her team are now focused on the next critical phase: submitting evidence to Guinness World Records for review.
This process involves providing detailed documentation, including video footage, witness statements, and logs, to verify that all guidelines were meticulously followed.
If her submission is validated, Afua will officially claim the title and etch her name in history as a Guinness World Record holder.
