Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has called on the Attorney General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Ayine, to provide a clear explanation for the state’s decision to discontinue certain high-profile cases.
One notable case involves former Works and Housing Minister Collins Dauda and four others linked to the $200 million Saglemi Affordable Housing Project. Initially facing 70 charges, including causing financial loss to the state, all charges were recently dropped by the current Attorney General.

Similarly, the Attorney General has discontinued the ambulance case involving former Majority Leader and now Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, along with businessman Richard Jakpa.
These decisions have sparked criticism, with some suggesting they may be politically motivated.
Speaking in an interview with Citi News, Martin Kpebu emphasized that an explanation from the Attorney General would help address public concerns and promote transparency.
“He should give reasons. He should explain the decision, all of them. Some of them, the reasons are not farfetched. We can see already, like that Cassiel Ato Forson’s case is the number one case. Godfred Dame was just abusing the prosecutorial powers.
“You catch him on the Jakpa tape, saying that Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Ken Offori-Atta are on his neck to get Ato Forson convicted by hook or crock.
“Such a case, you cancel it straight, no bend no curve. So I am expecting that Dr. Ayine will come and explain some of this as reasons for canceling the Jakpa case. The other ones, I am sure when he comes then he gives an explanation.”
