The Agona Swedru District Court has remanded a 34-year-old man into police custody for allegedly possessing a large quantity of suspected narcotic substances.

The suspect, Awudu Osman, was arraigned on Wednesday, February 25, before the court presided over by His Worship Victor Kusi. He faces a provisional charge of possessing narcotic drugs without lawful authority.

Prosecutors told the court that the accused was arrested on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, along the Agona Asafo–Kwesitwukwaa road together with another suspect, 28-year-old Godfred Acquah.

The two were reportedly found with 154 compressed slabs of dried leaves suspected to be narcotic substances in a taxi with registration number GR 2932-26, which they were driving.

Following their arrest, police conducted a further search at Osman’s residence at Asisim in Agona Swedru as part of ongoing investigations.

The court subsequently remanded Osman into police custody for two weeks to allow investigators to complete their work. He is expected to reappear before the same court on March 11, 2025.
