Popular Kumawood actor and staunch New Patriotic Party (NPP) supporter, Agya Koo, has faced heavy criticism for his recent endorsement post in support of the NPP, amidst the ongoing #FreeTheCitizens campaign.

The online rally began after the arrest of protesters, including socialite Ama Governor and activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor, during a three-day anti-galamsey protest at the 37 Military Intersection in Accra.
The arrests took place on Saturday, September 21, and Sunday, September 22, with the protesters later arraigned in court.
These events sparked the #FreeTheCitizens campaign, which has garnered support from various Ghanaians, including Efya, Camidoh, and Efia Odo, among others.
However, on September 25, 2024, amidst the growing momentum of the campaign, Agya Koo took to his X handle to urge Ghanaians to back NPP presidential candidate Dr. Bawumia in the upcoming December 7 general elections.
“Vote for @MBawumia to continue the good work of President Akufo-Addo and the NPP,” he posted.
His statement, however, was met with significant backlash from online users, who accused him of being insensitive to the ongoing issues surrounding the protest.
