Lawrence Agyekum, a midfielder for Cercle Brugge, has confirmed his willingness to represent Nigeria’s senior national team, despite his Ghanaian heritage.
Born to a Ghanaian father and a Nigerian mother, Agyekum holds dual nationality, creating an interesting situation for his international career.

In a recent interview with OwnGoalNigeria.com, Agyekum expressed that he is eligible to play for both nations and would accept a call-up to the Super Eagles if the opportunity arises.
“My father is from Ghana, and my mother is Nigerian. I can play for both nations. If the chance to play for the Super Eagles comes, I won’t say no,” he stated.
He acknowledged his affection for both countries and mentioned that he closely follows their performances.
“Not too good for Ghana in the AFCON qualifiers, but they are doing well in the World Cup qualifiers. For Nigeria, it’s the opposite,” he added.
Agyekum has gained valuable experience at Cercle Brugge, appearing in 14 matches, including four in the Europa League, while on loan from RB Salzburg.
While he has shown interest in playing for Nigeria, his connection to Ghana through his father’s lineage makes him eligible to represent the Black Stars as well, which fans would be eager to see.
