The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) Director of Communications, Richard Ahiagbah, has expressed grave concerns over the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) alleged attempts to undermine the credibility of the Electoral Commission (EC) in the eyes of Ghanaians.
Ahiagbah warns that such persistent attacks could create a culture of fear and mob mentality nationwide, potentially destabilizing the December general elections.

According to Ahiagbah, the NDC’s strategy involves consistently criticizing the EC, spreading panic, and undermining its confidence.
By doing so, the NDC seeks to exploit the resulting chaos for political gain. “This is a deliberate ploy to create uncertainty and benefit from the ensuing panic,” he lamented. “The NDC is attempting to create a mob mentality across the country, constantly shouting and making allegations against the EC to erode its credibility.”
Ahiagbah emphasized the importance of preserving democratic processes and urged Ghanaians to resist tactics that may provoke violence.
“It’s crucial to maintain peace and allow citizens to exercise their right to vote without intimidation,” he said.
“Ghanaians should disregard attempts to disrupt the electoral process and focus on selecting their preferred leaders through the ballot. We must prioritize the integrity of our democratic institutions and reject any attempts to undermine them.”
