The flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama, has challenged Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and President Akufo-Addo to undergo the same rigorous scrutiny and transparency he faced during the Airbus scandal.

This challenge comes after the Office of the Special Prosecutor cleared Mr. Mahama and his brother, Samuel Mahama, of any wrongdoing in the Airbus case.

The scandal involved allegations of bribery by Airbus SE in the sale of military transport aircraft to Ghana between 2009 and 2015.

The Special Prosecutor has officially closed the case, stating that no criminal charges will be pursued against those involved.

In a statement issued on Thursday, August 8, Mahama’s office urged both Dr. Bawumia and President Akufo-Addo to voluntarily submit to the same level of scrutiny, highlighting the significance of accountability and transparency in leadership.

“In this spirit, we extend the same challenge to Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia and President Akufo-Addo to subject themselves to equal scrutiny and transparency as we strive for accountability in our leadership.”

John Mahama stated that the ruling reaffirms his integrity, expressing satisfaction with the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s decision to exonerate him from the allegations related to the Airbus scandal.
