Akufo-Addo appoints a 5-member ministerial committee to engage stakeholders on Galamsey

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has established a five-member ad hoc ministerial committee to engage with stakeholders on illegal mining, also known as galamsey.

Information Minister Fatimatu Abubakar announced this in a statement issued on Friday.

“By the directive of President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, an ad hoc Ministerial Committee has been formed to consult with all stakeholders and evaluate the government’s efforts in addressing illegal mining in Ghana,” she said.

The committee is chaired by National Security Minister Albert Kan-Dapaah and includes the Minister of Lands and Natural Resources, Samuel A. Jinapor; the Minister of Defence, Dominic Nitiwul; the Minister of Employment, Labour Relations and Pensions, Ignatius Baffour Awuah; and the Minister of Information, Fatimatu Abubakar.
