John Dramani Mahama, the presidential candidate for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), has claimed that President Nana Akufo-Addo is aware of the likelihood that his party will lose the upcoming election.

While campaigning in Biakoye, Oti Region, Mahama interpreted recent remarks from Akufo-Addo as an acknowledgment of the NDC’s potential for victory.

On Saturday, November 2, Akufo-Addo assured Ghanaians that he would transfer power to the candidate who wins the December 7 election.

In response, Mahama suggested that these comments reflect the President’s preparation for a possible transition of power.

“One reason why you should vote for the NDC is, after we win, we will go after all persons who stole money from the public purse. Anybody who has stolen the property of Ghana, we are coming after you.

“Dr Bawumia would not hold them accountable. That was why he [Akufo-Addo] said he would not hand over power to me. Recently, I heard him say he will hand over power to whoever wins.

“It is because he knows that the NPP is about to lose the election and JM is coming back to the Jubilee House,” he stated.
