Interior Minister Henry Quartey has announced that President Akufo-Addo has declared Monday, August 5, 2024, as a public holiday.

The Minister explained that Sunday, August 4, 2024, is Founders’ Day, a statutory public holiday.
Since Founders’ Day falls on a Sunday this year, the President has used an Executive Instrument (E.I.) under Section 2 of the Public Holidays and Commemorative Days Act (Act 601) to declare Monday, August 5, 2024, as an additional public holiday to be observed nationwide.
