President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has dismissed Dodzie Numekevor from his position as Director General of the National Sports Authority (NSA), effective immediately.

According to Asaase News, the decision follows concerns about the poor condition of the country’s football pitches.

The termination letter, dated September 17, 2024, and signed by Nana Badiatuo Asante, the President’s Secretary, states: “I am directed by the President of the Republic to inform you that your appointment as Director-General of the National Sports Authority has been terminated with immediate effect.”

The letter instructs Numekevor to hand over his office to the chairman of the Authority’s Governing Board by the end of the business day on September 17, 2024.

The President expressed gratitude for Numekevor’s service and extended his best wishes.

Numekevor was appointed as interim Director General on February 26, 2024, following the departure of Professor Peter Twumasi, who had served in the role for six years.
