President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has granted executive approval for the upgrade of several districts to municipalities and municipalities to metropolises.
The Ministry of Local Government, Decentralisation, and Rural Development (MLGRD) announced the upgrades in a statement issued on Wednesday, December 4, confirming that the changes were made in line with the provisions of Act 936.
The municipalities elevated to metropolises include the Ho Municipal Assembly, Sunyani Municipal Assembly, New Juaben Municipal Assembly, and Wa Municipal Assembly.
Additionally, the following districts have been upgraded to municipalities: Offinso North District Assembly, Brim North District Assembly, and Karaga District Assembly.
These upgrades are expected to foster better governance, improved service delivery, and enhanced development across these regions.
