President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has congratulated President-elect John Dramani Mahama following his victory in Ghana’s 2024 Presidential Election, shortly after the official results were declared by the Electoral Commission Chairperson, Mrs. Jean Mensa, on December 9, 2024.

In a phone call with Mahama, President Akufo-Addo expressed his commitment to ensuring a smooth and peaceful transfer of power by January 7, 2025. He assured the President-elect of his full cooperation throughout the transition process.

Akufo-Addo praised the Electoral Commission, the Ghanaian people, and all stakeholders for conducting a peaceful and credible election, emphasizing that the process reflects Ghana’s strong democratic values and respect for the rule of law.

As part of the transition, President Akufo-Addo has invited Mahama to Jubilee House on Wednesday, December 11, 2024, for formal discussions aimed at ensuring a seamless handover of governance.

Akufo-Addo also called on all Ghanaians to unite, emphasizing the importance of consolidating democracy and fostering national development.

He reaffirmed his commitment to good governance and peaceful transitions, which have earned Ghana recognition as a leader in African democracy.
