President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has recognized the severe drought affecting Northern Ghana and committed to prompt government action to address the crisis.

During his visit to the Upper East Region for the commissioning of Phase III of the Bolgatanga Regional Hospital, the President highlighted the serious impact the drought has had on agricultural productivity in the region.

He assured that the government is prioritizing measures to alleviate the situation and support affected communities.

“As I am in the region, it is important that I take the opportunity to comment on a matter of considerable importance to the people of the northern regions of our country,” President Akufo-Addo stated.

“I am aware of the impact the unusually dry season has had on farm output, and I want to assure you that the government, in the next few days, will announce measures to address the situation.”

The extended dry season has caused widespread crop failures, jeopardizing the livelihoods of many farmers in the region who rely on agriculture for their income.

While President Akufo-Addo did not detail the specific measures to be introduced, he assured that the government is actively working on a response plan to provide relief to those severely impacted by the drought.
