President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo is set to inaugurate several hospitals today, December 5, 2024, as part of the government’s flagship Agenda 111 initiative.

This ambitious project is aimed at expanding healthcare infrastructure nationwide to enhance access to quality healthcare services.

The inauguration will include the Atwima Kwanwoma Municipal Hospital at Trede and the Oforikrom Municipal Hospital, both located in the Ashanti Region. These hospitals are part of a larger effort to establish 111 district and specialized hospitals across the country.

Dr. Anthony Nsiah-Asare, the Presidential Advisor on Health, underscored the importance of these projects, noting that the hospitals are equipped with state-of-the-art medical units, advanced equipment, and skilled personnel to ensure effective healthcare delivery.

“We have a complete 100-bed hospital with an accident and emergency centre, with a neonatal unit and pediatric unit. That is where small children will be, and older children also will be. With a maternity home, a kitchen, a mortuary, OPD, a pharmacy, an X-ray, and a laboratory, it is a complete hospital.

“We have an eye department, dental department, ENT department, and consulting rooms. We have public health units inside the hospital.”

The Agenda 111 initiative is a key component of President Akufo-Addo’s vision to strengthen Ghana’s healthcare system, reduce patient overcrowding, and improve health outcomes.

Today’s inauguration marks another milestone in the realisation of this ambitious goal.
