President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has urged Ghanaians, particularly the youth, to utilize 5G technology responsibly, cautioning against behaviors that could impede the nation’s digitalization efforts.
His comments came during the launch of Ghana’s 5G high-speed internet service on Friday, November 1, 2024, in Accra, spearheaded by NextGen Infraco.

The company has committed to supporting Ghana in harnessing 5G for sustainable economic growth across various key sectors.
In his address, President Akufo-Addo stressed that 5G should not be exploited as a means to compromise cybersecurity or data privacy. He encouraged both users and regulators to stay alert to potential digital threats.
“The journey ahead requires vigilance and responsibility. 5G is a powerful catalyst for shaping Ghana’s future and, with its powers, comes with a responsibility to use it wisely.
“We must address concerns around data privacy, cyber security and responsible use to ensure that the 5G fosters unity and not division. The youth who make up the population stand to benefit immensely from this digital era,” he stated.
