Nana Ohene Ntow, a special advisor to independent presidential aspirant Alan Kyerematen, has stated that Mr. Kyerematen represents the change Ghanaians need in this year’s elections.

He highlighted that Mr. Kyerematen’s Great Transformational Plan (GTP) is designed to strengthen the economy and create jobs.

“The Great Transformational Plan will stabilize and strengthen the economy, reducing the need for borrowing.

This is the kind of change Ghanaians need,” he said during the Key Points program on TV3 on Saturday, August 10, while discussing the Founders’ Day debate.

Nana Ohene Ntow also expressed surprise that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo would focus on igniting a debate about who founded Ghana while the country is facing economic struggles.

He criticized President Akufo-Addo for prioritizing the change from Founder’s Day to Founders’ Day during such a challenging economic period.

“It is very unfortunate that the President is focusing on changing Founder’s Day to Founders’ Day when we are dealing with an unprecedented economic crisis,” he said.

“I am totally saddened that President Akufo-Addo will preoccupy himself with such petty.

I am not saying the fact of history ought not to be taken into account, but at this time, is this one of the most important issues the president should preoccupy himself with?

“It is very unfortunate that President Akufo-Addo will lead this country in this direction,” the former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) said.

A Former Senior Advisor at the United Nations, Professor Baffuor Agyeman-Duah also said there were pressing needs, especially in the economy that the people must channel their energies into addressing not a Founders’ Day debate.

He cautioned politicians against trying to rewrite Ghana’s history and drawing the public into unnecessary debates, such as the one about who founded Ghana.

“Our leaders should guide us without pulling us into pointless arguments.

We should not attempt to rewrite our history,” he added during the Key Points program on TV3 on Saturday, August 10, while discussing the Founders’ Day debate.
