Kwame Owusu Danso (KOD), the running mate of Alan Kyerematen, the leader and presidential candidate of the Afrafranto Alliance, has announced plans to introduce the Mother-Child Support Scheme aimed at assisting parents in raising their children.

“Many parents face challenges in caring for their newborns, often sacrificing their dreams and aspirations. The Mother-Child Support Scheme will provide aid to parents in raising their children up to the age of 15, ensuring that no child is disadvantaged due to financial difficulties,” KOD explained.

This announcement was made during a radio interview at Benya FM in Elmina, part of KOD’s Caravan Tour.

KOD also highlighted the establishment of the Traders Bank, a financial institution dedicated to supporting business activities for traders.

“The Traders Bank will be owned by traders and managed by them. While the government will provide initial funding, traders will steer their financial future,” he said. This initiative aims to offer traders access to affordable credit facilities, enabling business expansion without the burden of high-interest rates.

Additionally, KOD addressed the ongoing issue of premix fuel shortages, promising a complete overhaul of the current distribution system. “The era of frequent fuel shortages and party executives monopolizing premix fuel will end when Mr. Kyerematen becomes president,” he asserted.

He pointed out that as a crude oil-producing nation, Ghana has the capacity to produce its own premix fuel, ensuring its availability and affordability for fisherfolk. “Why should we import premix fuel when we can produce it ourselves? Our government will address this issue,” he added.

KOD condemned the current system where access to premix fuel is influenced by party affiliation, labeling it an injustice to hardworking fisherfolk. He emphasized that all fishermen should have equal access to premix fuel, regardless of their political stance.

Furthermore, he reiterated Alan Kyerematen’s commitment to providing outboard motors to fishermen on a work-and-pay basis, significantly alleviating their financial burdens and enhancing productivity.

KOD also focused on agricultural issues, particularly for the KEEA Constituency known for fruit production. He proposed establishing a fruit processing factory in the area to create jobs and opportunities for the youth.

Lastly, KOD introduced the Ghana Rural Aged Support Program (GRASP), designed to provide financial and health assistance to the elderly in rural areas.

“Every elderly person in rural communities will receive 200 cedis a month to support their livelihoods,” he announced, showcasing a commitment to care for the vulnerable.
