Kwame Owusu Danso (KOD), Vice-Presidential candidate of the Movement for Change, addressed students during his Caravan Tour in the Central Region on Friday, October 4th, 2024.

In his speech, he presented key policies from Alan Kyerematen’s Great Transformational Plan (GTP), focusing on healthcare improvements and job creation for nurses and health professionals.

KOD emphasized the need to reform the Nursing Training Allowance (NTA), describing it as unsustainable in its current state and often used for political gain by the NDC and NPP.

He assured students that under Alan Kyerematen’s leadership, the NTA would be restructured to better serve students while ensuring long-term sustainability.

“Without ‘ALAWA,’ many of you would struggle to make ends meet on campus, so we must improve and secure it for future generations,” KOD stated, drawing applause from the audience.

Additionally, he introduced the Health Booth policy, aimed at creating 100,000 jobs, particularly for young people in the health sector. These booths will offer basic health services like blood pressure and cholesterol checks, reducing hospital congestion and providing affordable, accessible care within communities.

Operating on a work-and-pay model, healthcare professionals will manage these booths and charge minimal fees for their services.

KOD also highlighted plans for community clinics co-owned and operated by groups of nurses and doctors, with government funding.

A special board would ensure fair distribution of these clinics across the country, with a focus on empowering healthcare professionals to become entrepreneurs.

His presentation left students excited, with many expressing support for the Afrafranto Alliance.

“These policies are practical solutions to the challenges we face as health workers,” one student commented after the event.

KOD’s Central Region tour continues to gain attention as he advocates for healthcare transformation and youth employment under Alan Kyerematen’s leadership.
