African business leaders and investors often face a daunting challenge when traveling across the continent, particularly when visa applications are required.
Recently, Aliko Dangote, Africa’s richest man and CEO of Dangote Group, expressed his frustration at the Africa CEO Forum in Kigali.

He highlighted the need for 35 visas to travel to various African countries, emphasizing the disparity between African and foreign passport holders.
Dangote pointed out that foreign nationals with certain passports enjoy greater mobility on the continent, whereas Africans face more restrictions
He shared his personal experience, stating, “As someone committed to Africa’s growth, I find it cumbersome to apply for multiple visas, wasting valuable time at embassies.”
He contrasted his situation with that of Patrick, CEO of Total Energies, who doesn’t require 35 visas with a French passport, underscoring the difference in freedom of movement.
The Africa CEO Forum provides a platform for African decision-makers, international investors, and institutions to connect and exchange ideas, facilitating business in Africa.
By sharing his concerns, Dangote aimed to highlight the need for more streamlined travel processes, promoting greater economic collaboration and growth across the continent.
