Ken Kuranchie, legal counsel for Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, former Board Chairman of the Public Procurement Authority, has vehemently defended his client’s innocence after his detention by the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).

Prof. Ameyaw-Akumfi is under investigation by the NIB for alleged financial irregularities during his tenure as Board Chairman of the Ghana Infrastructural Investment Fund (GIIF).

The investigation primarily centers around financial approvals made under his leadership at GIIF.

While the specifics of the case remain confidential, Kuranchie emphasized the importance of following due legal procedures and reiterated his firm belief in his client’s innocence.

Kuranchie told Citi News’ Samuel Ackom that “Investigations have just started, so let us wait and see what turns out next. My client is innocent. He is innocent of absolutely all charges. But we shall see; let the government build its case.”
