Black Stars captain Andre Ayew has emphasized that the current generation of players is dedicated and patriotic, but they require patience from Ghanaians to achieve success.

Speaking as a guest lecturer during a sports psychology class at the University of Ghana, the former Swansea City star recognized the patriotism of his teammates and urged fans to allow them the time necessary to fulfill their potential and bring success to the national team.

“Yes, I can say confidently that the team is patriotic. The team is driven to succeed. We are all Ghanaians, and we are working with a new generation of players.

Psychologically, everyone needs to understand the significance of Ghanaian football to the people of our country.”

“Today we have a young squad, who are now understanding bit by bit everything that is coming. They started early, we had players who played for Liberty professionals, Hearts of Oak in Ghana before leaving the country.

Today most of the players leave very early, very early so they cultivate the outside mentality easier. So, when they come home, they must readapt themselves.”

“The patriotism has nothing to do with the psychology, they want to play: if not they won’t wear the jersey. What they need is patience and the job will be done.”

Andre Ayew’s unwavering commitment to the national team is evident through his participation in six consecutive major tournaments. As a seasoned midfielder, he now aims to play a pivotal role in Ghana’s journey to qualify for the 2025 AFCON.

Ghana finds itself in Group F alongside Angola, Sudan, and Niger, and Ayew’s wealth of experience will be invaluable in leading the team through the qualification stages.
