The New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, emphasized his significant contributions to the development of the northern region, particularly Chereponi.
He questioned former President John Mahama’s record during a meeting with Chereponi’s chiefs and elders, noting the lack of notable projects initiated by Mahama despite his presidency.

In contrast, Bawumia highlighted his achievements as vice president, citing several impactful development initiatives already undertaken.
He concluded by asserting that John Mahama has nothing new to offer compared to his own record of accomplishments.
“My main opponent in this election, former president John Dramani Mahama, was president before. I have not been president before. I am vice president, but John Mahama cannot point to one project in Chereponi.
“I can point to many projects as vice president in Chereponi and so if as vice president, I have been able to start many things in Chereponi, as president, I will be able to finish many things in Chereponi.”
