As the coronavirus crisis has prompted people to switch to e-commerce and contactless payments, the use of digital finance and payment systems has surged in South Africa and elsewhere.

Apple has unveiled its Apple Pay, as it joins Samsung’s digital wallet product Samsung Pay, which has been in South Africa since 2018.

The service is available through three South African banks, Absa Group, Nedbank Group and Discovery Bank (belonging to the Discovery group).
