The Appointments Committee has issued a formal apology to Ghanaians following the chaos that erupted during the vetting session on Thursday evening.

The session, intended to vet nominees Kwabena Mintah Akandoh and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, spiraled into disorder as members of the Minority and Majority Caucuses clashed.

Tensions escalated when the Minority proposed rescheduling the vetting to Friday, citing concerns over the day’s proceedings. However, the Majority members rejected the proposal, insisting the vetting proceed as planned. The disagreement intensified, with Minority members disrupting the session by breaking tables and microphones in an attempt to prevent any delay.

Despite the chaos, the Majority stood firm, arguing that the committee was following its established schedule and that the vetting should proceed without interruption. The situation prompted a heightened security presence in the conference room as tensions mounted.

In their apology, the Appointments Committee acknowledged the disruption and expressed regret for the incident. They assured the public that measures would be taken to prevent such occurrences in the future and to ensure that the vetting process remains orderly and respectful.
