Award-winning artist David Adeleke, known as Davido, has suggested he may leave his first child, Imade, in the custody of her mother, Sophia Momodu.

This comes after Momodu filed a counter affidavit asserting that Davido is unfit to have custody of their daughter.
During a court session on Friday, July 5, Momodu’s lawyers responded to Davido’s initial suit by alleging that Davido’s home is not a safe environment for Imade, citing the tragic death of his son, Ifeanyi, in 2022.
As part of her evidence to deny Davido custody of their daughter Imade, Sophia Momodu cited a document that is now circulating on social media. It reads in part,
“The applicant cannot adequately care for our daughter due to his controversial lifestyle and negative media attention, which could expose our daughter to further trauma at her young age.”
“The fact that the applicant lost his son in his house in rather unfortunate and questionable circumstances shows that our daughter cannot be placed in the custody of the applicant.”
Responding to Momodu’s assertions in a post on social media, Davido expressed that the death of his son has been a haunting experience for him over the years.
He conveyed his dismay at Momodu for bringing up his son’s tragic death in the custody case, as it serves as a painful reminder of the unfortunate tragedy.
“Your constantly bringing up the death of my child at any point u can to just remind us of this tragedy that haunts us everyday of our lives,” he wrote on X on Friday, July 5.
