The leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region has reiterated its commitment to a peaceful election on Saturday, December 7, while pledging to resist any attempts at voter intimidation allegedly orchestrated by the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The NPP has accused the NDC of plotting to suppress voter turnout in the region by preventing eligible voters from casting their ballots. In response, the party has called on residents to turn out in large numbers and report any disruptions to the electoral process.

At a press conference held on Wednesday, December 4, Ashanti Regional Organizer Francis Adomako urged security agencies to remain impartial and enforce electoral laws to ensure a fair and smooth election.
The NPP is committed to safeguarding the democratic process and protecting the rights of voters throughout the election.
“We want to assure of a peaceful election process. Any form of crude tactics and intimidation will be opposed fearlessly. We urge the police service, military, the Electoral Commission and other security services to work and act professionally and not work in any way that will create rejected ballots or compromise any vote.
“To the good people of the Ashanti region, we are committed to making your vote count, and nobody will be allowed to intimidate you on the polling day”.
He further alleged that the NDC, under former President John Mahama, would abandon key ongoing projects in the Ashanti Region.
“The NPP has a better record of completing inherited Ashanti projects in the Ashanti region than the NDC, for the last eight years the NDC from 2009 to 2016 not a single inherited project from the previous government was completed.
“John Mahama can not be trusted with ongoing projects like the Suame interchange, the Boankra Inland Port, the ongoing Agenda 111 project, the 700-bed maternity block at Komfo Anokye and others. John Mahama’s record held in the Ashanti region has been the unprincipled imposition of capitation on the people of Ashanti to the likes of many loved ones which brought us a lot of pain”.
