The Ashanti Division of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA) has demanded police protection for its Chairman, Dr. (Med) Paa Kwesi Baidoo, and his family following a reported attack on his residence by unidentified assailants.

In a statement released on Thursday, December 19, the GMA condemned the incident as a “wicked and callous act” that endangered the safety of Dr. Baidoo’s family.

The statement described the attack, which occurred around 7:00 PM on Wednesday, December 18, when unknown individuals unlawfully entered Dr. Baidoo’s property and damaged a large tree. The tree later fell onto the house, causing significant damage to the roof and personal belongings, while trapping Dr. Baidoo’s wife and son inside.

The GMA has called for an immediate investigation into the matter, demanding the apprehension and prosecution of those responsible, as well as compensation for Dr Baidoo’s family for the damages and emotional distress incurred.

Additionally, they have requested police protection for the Chairman and his family during the ongoing investigation.

“In the interim, the members of the Division demand the provision of Police protection for our Chairman and his family as investigations continue. As a law-abiding Association, we resolve to give our able Police enough time and space for them to work to apprehend the culprits.”
